El Ministerio de Educación ha definido los niveles de inglés que considera necesarios para estudiantes de 8° Básico y de 4° Medio, como también para los profesores de inglés. Estos niveles están alineados a estándares internacionales, en particular a aquellos definidos por la Asociación de Examinadores de Idiomas de Europa (Association of Language Testers of Europe=ALTE www.alte.org ), que fueron desarrollados de acuerdo a los parámetros establecidos por el Marco de Referencia Común Europeo para Idiomas.
